The Morton County, Kansas, Law Enforcement Center (LEC) services two agencies; The Morton County Sheriff's Office and The Elkhart Police Department. The LEC also contains Morton County's 911 Communications Center. The Law Enforcement Center is connected to the Morton County Courthouse, located in Elkhart, Kansas, with its entrance located on Richard Street.
Sheriff
The Administrator of the Law Enforcement Center is Sheriff Shelby Ralstin, who also fills the role of Chief of Police for the Elkhart Police Department and Administrator of the 911 Communications Center. Due to this combined relationship, Morton County Sheriff's Officers and Elkhart Police Officers share offices and equipment. They work cooperatively in all phases of Law Enforcement.
