Overview
Morton County Road Department now has a crew of 11 employees, where once there were 34. We are responsible for maintaining the county road system, which consists of 94 miles of asphalt, 497 miles of gravel/dirt roads, and 9 bridges plus the old WPA bridge, which is now legally considered a culvert.
Fleet
We have 6 semi-trucks, 4 tandem trucks, 7 blades, 2 dozers, 3 loaders and an assortment of other equipment. We have our own mechanic who is responsible for keeping all equipment in good running condition and also maintains vehicles for other county departments.
Asphalt Roads
Our asphalt season is in the summertime. When we can afford it we pave, seal, and/or patch roads. Throughout the year we gravel other county roads, school bus routes, mail routes, ect.
Snow Plowing
The county road crew clears snow from county roads and other county properties as we can, prioritizing the Airport runways and school bus and mail routes.
